What is Sponging Technique
Sponging on is a quick and simple technique that begins with the application of a solid base paint color. After the base coat dries, a wash or glaze is applied on top with a dampened sponge to create a mottled look. More than one glaze or wash color can be applied but each layer must be allowed to dry thoroughly before the next application.

Whether you are planning to build, remodel or add-on, your home improvement project may require the services of a remodeling contractor. Remodeling projects can easily cost thousands of dollars, making selection of the right contractor very important. Although most remodeling contractors are reputable professionals, there are some who lack necessary skills or business expertise. Less reputable contractors may try to sell you items you don't need, or may not be financially viable should a problem arise.

A remodeling contractor is defined as anyone who owns, operates, maintains, conducts, controls or transacts a home improvement business and undertakes or offers to undertake or agrees to perform any home improvement. In other words, if you receive an offer to build on, repair, or remodel your home or apartment for a fee, you’re dealing with a remodeling contractor. A remodeling contractor may be an individual, a company, a partnership, or a corporation.

The remodeling contractor oversees the nuts-and-bolts aspects of your home remodeling project, such as hiring and supervising workers, getting permits, making sure inspections are done as needed and providing insurance for work crews. Not all states have licensing requirements for remodeling contractors, so it is important for consumers to be aware of the law in their state. Remodeling contractors should also have personal liability, worker’s compensation, and property damage coverage.

Today's Terms

Refinancing

Definition:
Refinancing simply means paying off your mortgage loan with another mortgage loan that carries a lower interest rate.

Concrete Finishes

Definition:
Concrete surfaces come in three different finishes. The most common for interiors has a smooth finish created by running a flat trowel over the top. This can be quite smooth, almost like glass.Smooth surfaces don't work well outside. A little water can turn a smooth concrete surface into a slip hazard. Contractors should texture exterior surfaces with a brush-textured finish, a rougher surface that wicks away water and provides traction.Exposed aggregate finish is a rougher finish and less common. The gravel that makes up the concrete is exposed to the surface and good for traction.

Aluminum awnings

Definition:
Aluminum awnings offer protection from the heat and glare of the sun as well as storm protection. Most are affordably designed to function perfectly and fit windows, doors, patios and porches. Both the standard awning and the winged awning easily close down to convert to storm shutters.
